Mark Reihana (Doof Doof owner) set up Doof Doof Catering in the late 1990’s and has established himself as one of New Zealand’s top production-company caterers. Doof Doof own and operate a fleet of specially designed mobile kitchen-trucks and a fully fitted kitchen container, all of which allow them to create a high quality result in any environment.
Mark’s first major contract was with Pacific Renaissance Pictures feeding the cast and crew of Xena Warrior Princess. 5-meals per day were served to hundreds of crew including several high-profileĀ  international celebrities and Mark’s vast experience enabled the team to put together consistently impressive, healthy fresh meals all the while considering any dietary requirements or allergies. We’re not talking sausage-rolls for afternoon tea here: think scallop cerviche with raspberries and singapore noodles or white-bait fritters and vegetarian noodle rice-paper wraps.

For lunch you’re likely to find something like musssels in red curry and coconut with fresh hand-made (on-site) foccacia or barbecued pulled pork with chipotle and green beans served with fresh heritage-tomato salad and fresh mozzarella. Of course marinated strawberries with creme anglaise and mint will leave you completely satisfied and not weighed down by starchy carbohydrates.

Mark met Jo Warren (co-owner of Doof Doof) while on Xena where Jo was an assistant director. After Xena wrapped up Jo joined Mark and Doof Doof. She admits she “had a baptism by fire” working in the kitchen with Mark catering for a Volvo Ocean Race team which took them right around the world. It definitely set them up well for running a business together. “Let’s just say it ironed out all of the kinks” she says.
